Kata Gis are heavy weight and very stiff and snappier than training or kumite gis. Other than certifications, they do not have specific requirements. All equipment is approved for local events, but there might be some “Patch” requirements. Check each event for ruling on this.

• WKF Events require Red and Blue shoulder embroidery. All equipment needs to be WKF-Certified.

• NKF require white shoulder (white embroidery or NO embroidery) but does not specify WKF-requirements, except for Elite divisions that follow WKF rules.

• WUKF require white OR white + red shoulder embroidery and WUKF-Certification. However, they are generally flexible as long as the equipment do not specify WKF.

• AAU and local events accept any equipment, but please confirm ruling on the events.
